About Us
Dr. Cari Cannon
Dr. Cari Cannon graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts in 2004 and has been an active member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and Massachusetts Society of Optometry (MSO) since 2000. In 2009, she was selected to be on the Executive Board of the MSO as Chairperson for the City of Boston. Since 2005, Dr. Cannon has been a proud member of Vision Source, a premier group of private Optometrists across the United States and Canada.
Dr. Cannon received specialty training at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida where she actively treated children and adults with strabismus (eye turns), amblyopia (lazy eye which can lead to blindness), eye movement disorders, and the multi-handicapped.
In 2002, Dr. Cannon helped provide vision to the indigent population of Ometepeh, Nicaragua with the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). VOSH is an outreach organization which strives to supply eye care and eyeglasses to people in need around the world and ultimately eliminate avoidable blindness.
Prior to becoming an Optometrist, Dr. Cannon achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry at California State University in Fullerton, California in 1997. Upon graduation, she acquired a position as an analytical chemist, examining the Southern California air quality for the South Coast Air Quality District. She has also worked as a research associate at Baxter Hyland-Immuno Pharmaceuticals in California.
Dr. Cannon established Cannon Family Eyecare in 2005 in West Roxbury where she lives with her husband.
Dr. Beth Harper
Dr. Beth Harper is an Optometrist with a special interest in family eye care. She is a proud member of the American Optometric Association as well as the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists.
Dr. Harper graduated from the State University of New York, College of Optometry located in the heart of Manhattan in New York City in 2007. She then continued her education with a year of advanced training as an Optometry Resident specializing in ocular disease at the Boston Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA. She gained advanced clinical training in the diagnosis and treatment of many eye diseases, including glaucoma, diabetes, and conditions of the retina. Through this experience, Dr. Harper was able to care for veterans of all ages, including recent young Iraqi War veterans. After completion of her residency, Dr. Harper worked for several years with a prominent local pediatric ophthalmologist, developing and enhancing her skills examining and caring for children.
Dr. Harper has experience with diagnosing, treating, and managing many conditions of the eye, including pediatric eye problems, tracking and alignment disorders, eye infections, diabetes and other retinal disease, as well as glaucoma evaluations. Dr. Harper enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds, including infants and children with special needs.
In addition to eyes, Dr. Harper enjoys travel, skiing, hiking, and watching the Red Sox! She lives in Boston with her husband.
