Contact Lenses
Contact lenses are a great way to add variety to your daily look and feel. At Cannon Family Eyecare we listen to your lifestyle needs, take your eye health into consideration and determine what the best option is for you. Once we’ve made sure your contact lenses are initially providing optimal vision and comfort, we encourage you to try them out for a week or two, then have you back to make sure they’re still fitting well. We work with you to get you seeing and feeling your best. We are able to do this by using the most advanced contact lens brands and materials available.
Here are a few contact lens options to provide the best vision available for you:
Daily Disposable
Dailies offer the most convenient way to wear contact lenses. No cleaning, no solutions, reduces itching during allergy season. They are available with or without astigmatism correction.
Go to brands: Ciba Dailies Aqua Comfort Plus and Proclear One-Days.
Monthly Disposable
Monthly disposable lenses are a great option for eyes that need more oxygen and for people that have a tough time remembering when you started that last pair of contacts. We fit great contacts that are moist and comfortable for really long days and nights. There are some great bands like Aquaclear and Air Optix Aqua.
Toric for Astigmatism
Have you been told that you can’t wear contact lenses in the past because you have an astigmatism? Toric lens technology has come a long way in the past few years, with new designs to help people who have astigmatism see more clearly than regular contact lenses. They are available in all kinds of materials and replacement schedules including dailies, 2-week, and monthly.
Multifocal
Multifocal contact lenses are designed to help those patients who are having a trouble reading and on the computer with regular contact lenses. Once we hit our forties, unfortunately, our reading muscles start to slow down and we turn to alternatives to help see better at all distances. Many advances have been made in recent years, and there are new, comfortable multifocal contact lenses that provide great functional vision, though there are some compromises. Our goal is to decrease the amount of time you are pulling out those reading glasses and to help you to drive safely and comfortably. Great options are Air Optix Aqua Multifocal and Proclear Multifocal.
Wake up to better vision with Wave Lenses
Wave Technology (ortho-keratology) is a safe, effective way to see better without wearing glasses or contact lenses during the day. A gas permeable contact lens is designed specifically from a map taken of your eye surface. The lenses are placed on your eyes at bedtime, removed when you wake and provide clear, comfortable vision all day long. Think of it as a similar concept as a dental retainer made for the eye, re-shaping the cornea to allow optimal vision while you sleep.
They are a great solution for contact lens patients who suffer from dry eye, especially at the end of the day. Not only are Wave Lenses safe for children, research shows that they can help slow down the progression of nearsightedness.
Wave Lenses are great for people with an active lifestyle; no more lost contact lenses or broken glasses, they are also non-surgical and treatment is reversible.
Our doctors will discuss your options and determine the best choice for you. Contact lenses are a medical device so an annual evaluation is required, not only to make sure that your vision has not changed, but to ensure proper fit and optimal eye health is being maintained. We recommend taking your contact lenses out when you get home from your day, and taking a day off from them each week. Having a great pair of glasses that you love and see comfortably with is essential to responsible contact lens wear.
